The SPATIAL project is advancing accountable artificial intelligence (AI) systems in various fields. Within the project, WP2, led by Shen Wang from University College Dublin, the primary objective is to develop and introduce robust accountability metrics into the current “black-box” artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. The focus is on integrating these metrics into AI algorithms used in IoT, 5G, and cybersecurity applications. The initial task within this work package involves examining the resilient explainability of the AI algorithms already deployed in these domains. Through this analysis, we aim to uncover these AI systems’ underlying design, mechanisms, and everyday functioning. This knowledge will serve as a foundation for enhancing the explainability and resilience of these algorithms.

In an exclusive interview with Shen Wang, we dive into the current status of WP2 and the goals and challenges of the SPATIAL WP2.
